A safer online installation
- Download and open the small Star Writer Installer from this page.
- Choose the installation folder and begin installation.
- The installer downloads the complete versioned package from Star Writer's Cloudflare storage. Interrupted downloads are retried and can resume.
- The exact byte count and SHA-256 security hash are verified before any application files are installed.
- The installer creates the program files and optional desktop shortcut, then removes its temporary package.
System requirements
- 64-bit Windows 10 version 1809 or later, or Windows 11
- 16 GB RAM minimum; 24 GB or more recommended
- At least 20 GB of free disk space during download and installation
- A stable internet connection for the first installation
- A modern processor; supported GPU acceleration and additional memory can improve local generation speed
Before installing the beta
Back up important writing before testing. Windows may display a SmartScreen warning for a new independent application. Confirm that the installer came from this page. The release is digitally signed by Billy Starbuck Star Writer Code Signing and timestamped.
Signed updates from the same official source
Star Writer's Beta and Stable update channels now use signed manifests and packages stored with the official Cloudflare release. Update files are size-checked, SHA-256 checked, Ed25519 signature verified, path validated, and installed only after Star Writer creates a restore point. GitHub is no longer used as the program's download or update source.
